Support × technology / SELF-INITIATED PRACTICE

A little structure for the support queue.

A small practice tool that suggests a category and a next action for fictional ecommerce messages. Its suggestions are a starting point for human judgement.

Fictional brand: Daylight SupplyFormat: Interactive prototype

THE CHALLENGE

Make the next step clear.

A support queue mixes routine questions with reports that need closer attention. Simple triage rules can organise the first pass, but context still needs to be read by a person.

THE APPROACH

  1. Use transparent rules to identify common ecommerce topics.
  2. Suggest a next step without making refund or delivery decisions.
  3. Allow a person to correct the suggested category and its next action.
  4. Use synthetic examples to explore missing context, overlapping topics, and cases that need manual review.

EXPLORE THE WORK

Meet a more organised support queue.

01 / READ THE MESSAGE

Try a sample or write your own fictional message. This demo runs in your browser and does not send or save the text.

02 / REVIEW THE SUGGESTION

A starting point,
not a final decision.

Add a message to see a category, the rule behind it, and a suggested next step.

No AI model. No automatic refund or delivery decisions. Always read the full message.
The fictional store’s policies

Daylight Supply is a fictional shop selling everyday desk and home goods. All policies, messages, and order situations were created for AI-assisted practice. No real customers or business results are represented.

Business days

For these examples, business days are Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. All delivery and processing times are estimates unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Dispatch and tracking

Orders are normally dispatched within two business days of purchase. A tracking link is emailed at dispatch; the first carrier scan may take up to 24 hours to appear.

Delivery and delays

Estimated delivery is three to five business days after dispatch. If that window has passed, support checks the order and opens a carrier investigation where needed. The customer receives a progress update within two business days of the investigation starting, even if there is no final answer. Repeat unresolved contacts are escalated to a senior support colleague. A specific delivery date must not be promised without confirmation.

Change-of-mind returns

Customers can request a return within 30 calendar days of delivery for unused goods in their original packaging. Support confirms eligibility and provides instructions before the item is sent. The customer pays return postage for a change-of-mind return.

Refund timing

Eligible returned items are inspected and the refund is issued to the original payment method within two business days of receipt. After issue, the payment provider may take another five to ten business days to show the funds. Support verifies the actual return and refund status before confirming either to a customer.

Damaged deliveries

Customers should report delivery damage within seven calendar days of receipt, with an order reference and clear photos of the item and packaging. Once the damage is confirmed, support offers a replacement at no extra cost if stock is available, or a refund. Support provides a prepaid return label if a return is needed; the customer should wait for instructions before sending the item. Reports outside the seven-day window are referred for individual review.

Customer information

Support requests an order reference through the store’s private support channel and asks only for information relevant to the issue. Customers are never asked for passwords, one-time codes, or full payment-card details. The portfolio itself is not a store support channel.

WHAT THIS EXPLORES

Small details. Better support.

  • A category suggestion is not a resolution or a substitute for reading the message.
  • The most useful tool makes its limits visible and allows correction.
  • A rule-based prototype should not be presented as a trained AI system or a proven business improvement.

A good reply moves things forward.
